OK.... Mark of Kri is a bad ass game, plain and simple! I gotta give it up to Sony for having the balls to publish this title, I say this because to look at the game one might be under the impression that it's your standard "cartoony" action platformer. Don’t let the art style fool you this game has some pretty brutal content. It actually falls under the stealth/action genre, and accomplishes both really well! Besides being able to sneak up on guards and perform all sorts of rad stealth kills, you can also run into a situation with guns.... err swords a-blazin and just start slicing and dicing! Now, you might be saying to yourself -"well I could do that in just about any game these days", and you'd be right, but the battle system Sony San Diego created for this game is what really separates it from the rest of the pack. You see, when you are surrounded by two or more guards, each enemy is assigned a button on the controller, so at any time you can switch between badguys on the fly! and the animation when switching from one guy to the other is seamless... for instance if you're fighting one guard and another comes up behind you, you wont just turn and start fighting him, you'll perform a "no-look" block to defend against his attack, then spin around and chop his head clean off in one clean swipe! And before his body can hit the ground you're back to fighting guard # 1... Sweetness!

The lead character is named Rau, he's a quiet Polynesian /Aztec warrior that does all his talking with his sword! He’s got the ability to send out his bird Kuzo to scout ahead so you can strategize how you're gonna overcome the next set of guards or puzzles or whatever.
The art direction is just amazing! Its somewhere between Mulan, ElDorado and Dragon slayer, and that aint a bad thing! you really get the feeling as though you're playing through a Disney/Bluth cartoon, albeit one where you can hack off your enemies limbs... Good times!

Well I've clearly blabbed on long enough, if you've got a few bucks go pick this PS2 title up from your local bargain bin, you will not be disappointed. Its not next gen, but it is solid fun gameplay!

Is it a good thing that children believe in the Tooth Fairy or the Hogfather or, shall we say, Father Christmas? Yes. We need to train our imagination on the little lies so that we can believe the big lies like "Justice," "Truth." - Terry Pratchett
