FINALLY!...... it’s about friggin time I submit some new work huh?

This is actually a cover I recently finished for Nicktoons magazine…. It’s a children’s magazine kind of in the same vein as “Highlights”… (Does anyone remember that mag?)

As some of you may or may not already know I work as a director on Avatar: the last air bender and when my boss/producer/co-creator of the show was too busy to do the cover himself, he was nice enough to ask me if I wanted to take a stab at it and this being my first cover gig I jumped all over it ( which, looking back now, I should have probably thought twice about, as I was already super busy working on the actual show itself…. but what the hell…).

The concept from the publisher was Aang and the gang doing the Avatar version of “Extreme” winter sports…. So I drew Aang on a water-bent ice snowboard and stuck the rest of the kids on the penguin-seals from the very first episode (as suggested by my boss). Anyhow the deadline on this thing was really tight, so for a Photoshop “newb” such as myself to turn it around in just over a day, I’d say it turned out pretty good. I hope you guys like it!

Oh and if you guys get the chance check out the show on Nickelodeon! I think it is really breaking some new ground in terms of how people usually view “children’s programming”.
